At the request of the Government of Vietnam, through the Centre for Disaster Management , Ministry of Agriculture , the UN through SPIDER (United Nations Platform for Space -based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response – UN- SPIDER) platform conducted a Technical Advisory mission between 25 and 29 March 2013 to assess the present and potential use of satellite information on all aspects of disaster management in Vietnam and strengthen disaster management through better access to such information. GEREDIS was part of the selected group of 12 experts from agencies and organizations such as the UN- SPIDER , CANEUS ( Canada ) , CNES -CNRS -Université Paul Sabatier ( France ) , South China Sea Institute of Oceanology , Chinese Academy of Sciences (China mentioned ) GREEN Mindanao (Philippines ) , Pacific Disaster Center ( USA) , ITC – University of Twente ( Netherlands ), Center for Interdisciplinary Geospatial Information Technologies , Delta State University ( USA) and Beijing Normal University ( China) .
